Couple weeks ago a friend from Apple called me with an opportunity to speak about photography at the Bethesda Row Apple Store. I’m thinking to myself ‘What?!? Sounds great but I’m not a veteran in the business!’

I was humbled that he even asked me, but after hearing more about the upcoming event it sounded like a great opportunity to share so I agreed to do it. And let me be honest. I love Apple products. My finger tips are touching Apple products pretty much all day…and even right now as I type

This FREE event “Shooting from the Heart” is for aspiring photographers who love photography, or photographers thinking or wanting to start a photography business. The topics I’d like to cover are some basics of photography, photographing weddings, and the power of networking in the photography business.

Although these are what I plan on discussing I don’t want to waste your time, so majority of my talk will largely depend on who shows up and what you’d like me to share.

I’m so grateful for all my good friends in this business who’s helped me and others along the way and are still helping. In the same way I’d love to be a help to you, even in a small way so please consider coming.

Friday, September 25 at 6:30pm – 7:30pm

Also, It’ll be great to know who’s coming so feel free to leave a comment to let me know!

Fellow photographer friends! I’d love for you to come and support too! And you get to play with Apple toys and check out the cool store. The store moved so it’s huge and it’s in a really cool location too. We can even go hang out after the event.

There are other photography events going on that day at the store so visit their website for more details here. Click on 9/25 on the calendar for details.

Few days ago I had few of my friends over for a little beginner’s photography 101 workshop. Trust me, I know I’m no master photographer but three of my friends just happened to ask me if I could teach them how to take better photos all within a matter of three days. So I thought, I’ll just have all of them over at the same time, go over some basic things and make it a fun get together. And fun it was.

I taught them how to pick up their camera, take the lens cap off and turn it on. Haha! j/k.

We talked about composition, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, white balance and seeing and using the available light in whatever environment you’re in.

I wish we had more time because it was a lot of fun and it would have been nice to go outside to take some photos. But we’ll just have to wait until next time.

I really enjoyed sharing what I know and a lot of what I know really is what I learned from others. So I’m just humbled that my friends would ask me to help them and so I am happy to share.

I hope everyone else had fun and learned at least one thing that helped take better pictures.

Thanks wifey, Mark, Hye Joon, Annabel and Hemi!

Here are some photos from our time!

I got to attend David Jay’s Free to Succeed Tour last night. And it was fantastic!

Let me just backtrack a little and begin by saying, the thought of even wanting to become a wedding photographer began 3 years ago by coming across DJ’s website(the content has changed since then). I was initially inspired by the wedding photos from the slideshows that were on display. But later as I read his bio and then went onto his blog, I quickly found out what he was all about. He’s all about helping other photographers become better and more efficient at what they do and making the wedding photography industry a better place. A place where we are open to help and serve each other. A win/win situation! That’s when it hit me. Cool! This is what I want to do!

From then on my whole journey of becoming a wedding photographer began and I became friends with Kenny Kim and started following the industry’s top photographers like [b]ecker, Mike Colón, Jessica Claire etc…You should see my google rss reader…I have a long list of photographer blogs that I follow…

So back to last night…Dre, Kristen and I drove down with full of excitement. It really was such a treat getting a chance to hear DJ and [b]ecker speak! They shared a lot of meaty stuff about how they got started, how they are running their businesses, making suggestions based on what works for them etc…very inspiring and encouraging at the same time.

I’ve got so used to waching [b]ecker on his [b]school blog so half way through I’m thinking, “Wait, I’m not watching one of his videos now…He’s right in front of me.” Funny…but that’s what internet and blogging is doing, isn’t it? Don’t you feel like you know me so well, you blog stalker? haha! Seriously though…if you’ve just come across my blog or have been following my blog feel free to leave comments. I’d love to hear from you.

Ok…back to last night…Without a doubt it was great to see many local photographer friends and make some new friends.

We stayed around talking to [b]ecker who’s just hilarious and had some funny wedding stories and also DJ’s girlfriend Allison about the non-profit organization she’s involved with called “Not For Sale”.

And at the end of the night some of us got to take a peak at the cool tour bus and sang happy birthday to DJ. Thanks for letting us hop on even though you were tired DJ.

Then a handful of us headed out for a midnight snack to the Kabob Palace! Good peeps + good food = Good times!

I didn’t take a whole lot of pics so be sure to check Kenny’s blog later for more! He was documenting the whole event.

Me, Kristen, [b]ecker, Megan Beth, and Dre.
