I returned just few days ago from a week long video shoot in Nassau, Bahamas with my friends Citygate Films, Vinegar Hill Picture Works and Drew Painter. We were filming a documentary on a church in Nassau for Sovereign Grace Ministries.
The trip was amazing. We were pulling long days of shoots so we didn’t get to hit the beach during the day at all but just being there alone and doing what we love is unbeatable.
You might think Bahamas is all about the beautiful beaches and the Atlantis resort or something similar to it but we definitely got to see the non-beautiful side of the island.
If you know me you’d know that I’d pretty much eat anything so I was excited to eat what the locals eat. That’s why I like watching Bizzare Foods with Andrew Zimmern and No Reservation with Anthony Bourdain on the Travel Channel. So one of the favorite parts of the trip was experiencing local cuisine and let me tell you…another week there and I would have become a Bahamian.
I had Conch in all different ways. Cracked(Fried) Conch, Grilled Conch, Conch Fritters, Conch Salad, peas and rice, grouper, and this local drink called Vita Malt. Everyone hated it except for me and Drew. Carolyn has a pic of me eating conch salad on her blog.
I have so many pictures to show so I just made a slideshow without music so that you can play your own music and look through them at your own pace.
Big ups to the church in Bahamas and Pastor Cedric Moss for their hospitality and big ups to Carolyn McCulley of Citygate Films for being an amazing director/producer and assembling an amazing crew to work with.
Here are few shots to give you a little taste. And look through the slideshow at the end if you’d like.
Here’s the gang that I traveled with. Dave Altrogge of Vinegar Hill in the hat, Carolyn McCulley of Citygate Fillms, Drew Painter in the bottom left and Mike Hartnett of Vinegar Hill in the green shirt.
This photos was taken early on in our trip when we were aimlessly driving around not quite lost but almost. We were told later by some locals that it wasn’t the wisest thing that we drove through and even got out of our car.
Probably one of my favorite spots. A conch market right by the water. This guy is making a conch salad.
This was on our last night of our trip walking around the Atlantis resort. It was super nice and they had this huge aquarium with sharks and sting rays.
And here’s the slideshow below. Almost 400 pics. yikes!
