A priceless wedding photo

Over the last several years in my career as a wedding photographer, three of my couples lost one of their parents either before or soon after the wedding. It’s sobering and keeps me grounded as it reminds me of why I chose to be a photographer in the first place.

I just photographed Melinda & David‘s wedding this past weekend. David’s mother is ill, so his father stayed back to care for her.

Not having his parents present was heartbreaking to many people, but the wedding day was still a great celebration of love and God’s faithfulness to Melinda and Dave and their family. And thank God for internet, iPads and skype. They skyped during the ceremony and part of the reception.

As I’m looking through their wedding photos, there are many fun and beautiful moments and portraits. But this photo of them skyping with his father touches my heart the most. It’s priceless.

Here are more photos from their wedding.

Very nice Peter! That’s a ‘real’ capture of the moments!

Peter, it was so fun watching you work at the wedding, and a pleasure meeting you! You are quite a stealth operator~ Shots like these are magical, but they don’t happen with the wave of the wand. You have been given a gift~ the gift of “seeing” the shots that matter.

Thanks for sharing it, and may you continue to bless other couples by capturing their stories in such a beautiful way!
